Key pieces for a stylish wardrobe;

Foundation Garments. Don’t under-estimate the importance of what you wear underneath your clothes. Without the correct fitting bra, your clothes will not hang properly. Get measured professionally. Most women in this country are wearing the wrong size bra. Try on under a top or t-shirt, this gives you an idea of the shape of the bra under your clothes. Don’t forget Spanx. You will be astounded at the difference these will make to your shape.

The little black dress – essential. Remember this will have to serve all occasions. Know your figure and what style suits you best. Think about your age! If you are in the 20-30’s age group you can get away with shorter length dresses, strap-less etc. If you are in the 40-50+ age bracket, go for on the knee or just below length. Think about a short or cap sleeve (hides bingo wings). Think chic. Think Audrey Hepburn. A classic black dress should stand the test of time.

A classic jacket. Try on different styles. Don’t go too bold with the colour. You can add an extra pop of colour with beautiful scarves and jewellery.

A pair of well-fitting jeans. You may need to try on a few different pairs & styles by different designers. Boot cut are more flattering. But skinny can look so good on the right figure. Be comfortable, sit down in them. They need to fit well around the waist hips and bottom. Essential that they do not fit too low on the hips, unless you are super slim. Well- fitting jeans can be so flattering, but you must have the right pair.

A crisp white cotton shirt – Team with a pair of jeans and a jacket, so simple but stylish. A good quality shirt will pair up with anything. Stunning with trousers, jeans or a pencil skirt. Pile on accessories.

A good quality t-shirt. Casual with jeans, smart chic with trousers or a skirt. Choose a neckline that suits your figure.

A pair of black leather/patent court shoes (pumps) with a heel preferably. Either: platform, stiletto or block heel will make legs look slimmer and calves more defined. Look at a heel height that you are comfortable with, you don’t have to cripple yourself in 5 inch heels. A pair of classic ballet pumps for day time is also an essential, if the budget can be stretched.

A plain pencil skirt, very flattering and feminine. Knee length or just above. Remember when you sit down the skirt will ride up! Accessorize with a wide belt at the waist,

Accessories: include a handbag (purse) that you can use for evening or daytime. Look for a style that has a small purse inside, this could be used as an evening purse. So you have 2 for the price of one! Otherwise look out for a cosmetic bag that can be dressed up with a bit of imagination such as jewels, lace etc and you are all set to go out for the evening. Daytime bags should be functional, not over large. Go for one that you can use as both shoulder as well as a hand-held style (may have removable straps). It is really worth spending a little more for a quality bag that will last. Other accessories to consider should be: scarves, jewellery, belts or hats. These can completely transform an outfit.

Develop a look that screams elegance and style. Remember key pieces set your wardrobe
